Who's Eligible

All students grades 2-8 are eligible for our services. Our services are now offered online due to the coronavirus, so students can be located in NYC, or outside of the city. Our main focus is on helping underserved families and areas because their access to academic support is limited.

Where We Do It

From your home! Our organization is based in New York City, but due to the coronavirus, we now offer our services online. Tutoring sessions are done through either Zoom or Discord, both with audio and video, so the tutors and children can interact. Be sure your child is set up with a computer and internet access. If your child is not well versed in using a computer, it may be best that you attend the sessions until they can navigate the online sessions independently.

Why We Do It

In 2017, then-7th grader Dahlia Roe noticed the major achievement gap between students from underserved areas and those from privileged areas. In response, she decided to found Reach NYC Tutoring to offer free tutoring services to students in order to try to bridge that gap by preparing students for the NYC Gifted + Talented Test. That program evolved into the Reach NYC we know today, offering free tutoring services to students from grades 2-8. You can learn more about our history here.
